New Orleans' CAC Leads Way For Nonprofit BP Claims

The legal fallout from BP’s 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill has been ongoing, as the civil trial makes its way through the courts. In the meantime, some New Orleans groups that were not eligible for claims money have found that they do qualify under a new claims process. Though they are filing quickly, BP is now appealing that formula.

And, we'll take a walk on the wild side as we trek into the woods for a magical celebration of art and nature.

Trumpeter Hannibal Lokumbe Performs at the CAC

We go Inside the Arts for conversation with acclaimed trumpeter, composer and poet Hannibal Lokumbe. The residencies of Lokumbe at the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans will be celebrated with a new retrospective exhibit — And Their Voices Cry Freedom Again — and with concerts on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m.

In conjunction with Lokumbe's concerts, the CAC will host two special exhibition preview receptions on March 1 and 2, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Giorgio Bertuccelli's creative background began in his father's papier-mâché studios, where the fantastic creatures of Mardi Gras came to life. It was there that he began to build his own percussion instruments and experiment with sound. He sits down to talk about his new installation at the Contemporary Arts Center.
