POSITION TITLE: Associate Manager of Programming and New Media

DEPARTMENT: WWNO

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and continually refining the content strategy for WWNO's multi-platform broadcast environment, utilizing broadcast, HD, Internet, and other media in support of WWNO's vision and mission. The successful candidate will develop current and new capabilities that expand WWNO's relevance and significance as a public media organization in the region. This position reports to the WWNO General Manager and is unclassified. The position supervises on-air staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must be results-oriented, with a demonstrated understanding of public broadcasting and digital media, and a vision for these media to be utilized for effective public service, audience development, and revenue growth.

Other qualifications: Bachelor's degree

Five years of demonstrated successful and increasingly responsible experience in public radio programming including 3 years of staff management in a public broadcasting operation.

Ability to operate broadcast technical equipment including digital editing, control boards and standard computer programs including studio automation, office suite and email programs.

Strong on-air ability and collaborative skills to effectively work with internal team members and external partners in both on and off site environments for a variety of research, planning and implementation activities.

Experience planning and implementing production/development of local program content.

Understanding of new media opportunities.

Excellent oral and written communication skills including group presentation skills.

Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate on-air staff.

Experience programming NPR News and Classical music.

Understanding and application of audience research.

Knowledge and understanding of change management and methods. Successful experience in implementing change or re-organization preferred.
