Microsoft Expected To Unveil Tablet To Compete With iPad

Microsoft isn't confirming but the company is expected to unveil a tablet device at an event in Los Angeles on Monday. Bloomberg News reports sources say the device would compete with Apple's iPad and Amazon's Kindle. Meanwhile, IBM has created a computer that ranks the fastest in the world. The Sequoia machine beat out the previous No. 1, the Japanese Fujitsu.

Chevy Volt Sales Begin To Show Improvement

General Motors is pinning some of its hopes for the future on its gas-electric hybrid the Chevy Volt. After a slow start last year, Volt sales are beginning to pick up. According to Edmunds.com, Volt sales so far this year are almost level with all of last year's sales. GM has sold about 7,000 of the hybrids.

European leaders and global markets expressed relief after Greek conservatives' narrow parliamentary election victory over leftists who had vowed to ditch the tough austerity terms of an international bailout.

But the next government will have to deal with a polarized society and with widespread anger at wage and job cutbacks that have targeted the middle class and spared an entrenched political and business elite.

Simpson Wins U.S. Open, His First Major Title

Webb Simpson saved par on the hilly 18th hole with a chip from the rough to about 4 feet, closing with a 2-under 68 to hold off Graeme McDowell and Michael Thompson in a foggy final round at The Olympic Club on Sunday. Simpson finished at 1-over 281. Linda Wertheimer talks to USA Today sports columnist Christine Brennan.

NBA Finals: Heat Leads Thunder 2-1

Now, in the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat now lead Oklahoma City Thunder two games to one. It's a best-of-seven series. The Heat won the latest game in as LeBron James scored 29 points, outpacing Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant who had 25.

In California Sunday, Rodney King was found dead in his swimming pool. King's beating by police in 1991 was caught on videotape and then sparked riots in Los Angeles when police accused of excessive force were acquitted.

Sunday was the 40th anniversary of the Watergate break-in — the opening act in a wide-ranging, White House scandal that was fueled by secret campaign money. Last week, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said it's time to roll back the Watergate-era requirement for public disclosure of campaign donors. He accused President Obama and liberals of trying to stifle the First Amendment rights of conservative donors.
