Jason Saul is WWNO's Director of Digital Services, a multimedia journalist and a member of the station's corporate media underwriting team, dedicated to fostering partnerships with local businesses in support of their outreach efforts and WWNO’s fundraising goals.

Jason heads up WWNO's sports desk, is the point person for digital initiatives and social media outreach, and is a spot news and features reporter during major events.

Jason, a native of New York (but a long-time resident of the Crescent City), has an extensive background in traditional, digital and social media, and the intersections between them.

New Orleans DWI Checkpoint Tonight

New Orleans police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint "in Orleans Parish" tonight, the department said in a press release.

The NOPD Traffic Division will begin the checkpoint at approximately 9 p.m., and conclude it at approximately 5 a.m. Saturday morning, said Officer Frank Robertson, III. Drivers are advised they will experience minimal delays, and are reminded to have proper documentation on them, including proof of insurance and a driver's license.

The NOPD is required to issue notifications regarding sobriety checkpoints by the Louisiana Supreme Court.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten Resigns

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten

Jim Letten, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana and head of an office embroiled in a widening scandal involving online posts made by some of his subordinates, announced his resignation during a news conference this morning.

Letten, the longest-serving U.S. Attorney in the nation and a New Orleans native, thanked his law enforcement partners, staff and family, and said his resignation will be effective Dec. 11.

NBA Commissioner David Stern attended Wednesday night’s matchup between the Hornets and the Lakers, touring the new Hornets facility under construction at the Saints complex on Airline Highway earlier in the day and meeting with Hornets staff and owner Tom Benson.

Stern answered questions during a pregame press conference on his take on the Hornets organization, and on the possible team name change that has transfixed fans on social media throughout the day.

Judge Deals Setback To Louisiana’s Voucher Program

A New York Times story by Campbell Robertson examines a Federal judge's ruling that the state's financing of the new school voucher system is unconstitutional.
Judge Timothy Kelley of State District Court ruled that the way in which the state finances its new voucher program violates the state Constitution, as it relies on money intended in "plain and unambiguous" terms solely for public schools. In a statement, Governor Jindal called the decision "wrongheaded and a travesty for parents across Louisiana" and vowed to appeal.
