Environmental Task Force Hears Varied Ideas

New Orleans, La. – The energy panel heard calls for more bicycle paths, curbside recycling, salvage and deconstruction in building projects, native plants on levees, and even a better food supply.
Michael Smith is president of the New Orleans Food Cooperative.
He said there's money set aside to get more fresh foods into neighborhoods without grocers, but it's gotten stuck at City Hall.
Task force co-chair Beth Galante said the mayor-elect will be getting comprehensive advice on a variety of subjects, and ways to pay for the proposals.
