An Evening with William Joyce — The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore

Octavia Books, 89.9 WWNO and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts invite you to join us for a special evening with William Joyce, celebrating the release of his amazing new picture book, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.

The program will include a screening of Joyce's Academy Award-winning short film inspired by the story, followed by an interview of the author by Susan Larson for WWNO's The Reading Life. There will also be a book-signing and light refreshments.

The opening reception will begin at 6 p.m. in NOCCA's Lupin Lobby, located in the Marigny at 2800 Chartres St. Enter through the front entrance by the train tracks and follow the signs to Lupin Memorial Theatre. The presentation will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets:

Tickets are required. Each ticket admits one person and may be exchanged at the event for one signed edition of The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore Tickets are the price of one book.

Tickets and additional books may be purchased at the event, while seating is still available and while supplies last.

About the Author:

William Joyce has put his personal stamp on all types of children’s media. His books include the New York Times bestseller The Man in the MoonNicholas St. North and the Battle of the Nightmare KingE. Aster Bunnymund and the Warrior Eggs at the Earth’s Core!, and Santa Calls. He’s won three Emmy awards for his Rolie Polie Olie animated series, developed character concepts for Toy Story and A Bug’s Life, and made films including Robots and Meet the Robinsons.

He’s currently executive producer of the DreamWorks Animation release of Rise of the Guardians (Fall 2012) inspired by his new series. He is also producing The Leaf Men, based on his book by the same name. And his star continues to rise—he won an Academy Award for his innovative short film The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. He lives in Shreveport, LA, and is the founder of Moonbot Studios.
