Kyle June Williams Finds Her Inner 'Little Monster Ogre Baby'

StoryCorps
Kyle Williams is an actor, writer and comic who recently moved to Los Angeles after living in New Orleans for years.

StoryCorps is an oral history project based on the idea that the stories of everyday people are the most important and interesting of all. This week, Kyle Williams talks about “one of the most mortifying moments that anyone can have in their high school career.”

Kyle attended St. Thomas Acquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida: a prolific athletic center that produces Olympians and professional athletes. Students were required to play a sport in order to graduate, which forced Kyle – who was then known around school for impersonating Henry VIII — to join the track team.

She talked to StoryCorps facilitator Vanessa Gonzalez-Block about her first competition in the 400 meter dash.

Kyle added, "I’d rather be the crazy, hunchback sidekick instead of the Ingenue." This interview was recorded at StoryCorps’ mobile studio in New Orleans.

Thomas Walsh is an independent radio producer and audio engineer who lives in New Orleans. You'll see him around town recording music, podcasts, short films, live events and radio features. He's practically glued to his headphones. A movie geek to his core, he's seen every film listed on the American Film Institute's 100 Years...100 Movies and would love to talk to you about them.
