Sinkholes. Potholes. The streets of New Orleans are full of them. No matter how you get around — by bus, car, bike — you've probably seen (and felt) your fair share of them.
On this tour, we'll visit a handful of sites in Mid City submitted by residents — and try to figure out what caused them. Coastal scientist Alex Kolker, from the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium, will be on hand to talk about the connections between subsidence, coastal land loss and infrastructure — and to help diagnose the blemishes in the road.
We'll talk about the city- and citizen-led solutions to these issues, too, like green infrastructure and alternative water management.
- It's FREE
- Saturday, May 12, from 2-4 p.m.
- Meeting place: Lafitte Greenway @ Jefferson Davis (2 p.m.)
- Ending place: Mid City Yacht Club (4 p.m.)
- This is a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes and warm-weather clothes. A nice, big bottle of water is a good idea, too!
Can't wait to see y'all there!
