Ouachita Parish Public Library Highlights Library Card Month in September

Many children discover reading and responsibility by holding a library card.  September is recognized as National Library Card Month.

TheOuachitaParish Public Library has created a campaign to encourage area students to sign up for a library card.  OPPL'sYouth Services Coordinator LakeishaBosworth says information sessions are planned for a number of schools.

"The Peanuts character, Snoopy, is the honorary chair for the campaign.  With the new Peanuts movie coming out in November, we're celebrating the sign up month ahead of its release," she said.

The library is also collaborating with Strauss Youth Academy for a special presentation of "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" this fall.

Bosworth says anyone interested in obtaining a library card can find out more at the system's website: www.oplib.org
