Propeller Accelerates The Growth Of 15 Social And Environmental Entrepreneurs

Propeller
This year's Propeller fellows

Since 2009, Propeller tackles the tough challenges in New Orleans by launching socially-minded ventures.

Propeller helps start up companies that have environmental and social missions. Their accelerator program helps entrepreneurs with solutions in primary sectors including health care, education and water. They’re trying to create a critical mass of entrepreneurs tackling these issues form multiple angles in order to move the needle forward on tough topics like obesity, childhood education, and getting more people in Louisiana insured.

This current class has been engaged in a 10-month fellowship, from September to June. Propeller provides technical assistance for each fellowship, matches each business with a consultant, and holds monthly meetings around a different topic to help these young businesses thrive.

Julia Stewart, director of Programs at Propeller, guides us through the ninth meeting with this season’s fellowswhere we meet entrepreneurs from Community Plates, Brothers Empowered 2 Teach, The Cookbook Project and Million Dollar Scholar.
