Announcer/Producer
Farrar Hudkins

Farrar Hudkins is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, where he began piano and music theory lessons at age four with the late Charlie Friar. He began studying the trumpet at age eleven with David Daugherty of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. His musical education culminated in his late teens with piano and music theory lessons from Anita Tritt of Davidson College and jazz pianist and composer Frank Kimbrough of New York University; and trumpet instruction from Vincent DiMartino of Centre College and Dr. John R. Harding at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While in Charlotte, Mr. Hudkins played trumpet with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Charlotte Philharmonic Orchestra, Charlotte Repertory Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, the Queen City Brass Band, and keyboards and brass in funk, folk, and rock groups. His small band performed for the Charlotte Jazz Society, of which he was a member. He studied music theory and education at Loyola University New Orleans, where he performed in every major ensemble, including the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Symphony Orchestra; and also in jazz combos, a brass quintet, and a brass choir. In New Orleans he has performed with the John Mahoney Big Band, Jason Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, the Jimmy Maxwell Orchestra, the Frankie Mann Orchestra, and folk, rock, jazz, and funk ensembles, in live performances and studio recordings.
