Judge Seeks Records Related to Leaks Probe

A federal judge has ordered the U.S. Justice Department to turn over any documents that show they tried to determine whether somebody leaked confidential information about its probe of deadly police shootings on a bridge after Hurricane Katrina. The judge is planning a hearing Wednesday on the matter.

9 Constitutional Amendments on November Ballot

BATON ROUGE — Voters will face a list of questions in the fall election, constitutional changes proposed by lawmakers for them to consider, including provisions about gun rights and pension revocation.

Nine proposals to amend the Louisiana Constitution will be on the Nov. 6 ballot after the action of the legislative session.

In the most attention-grabbing item, voters will decide whether to toughen the state's constitutional protections for weapon owners and whether to remove a provision that gives the Legislature explicit authority to limit concealed handguns.

Videos May Hold Clues in Strip Club Dancer's Death

A south Mississippi sheriff's investigator is hoping surveillance video from Bourbon Street in New Orleans will provide clues about the death of a strip club dancer whose dismembered body washed ashore on the Gulf Coast.

Authorities say 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart reported for work Tuesday night, left early Wednesday, and then disappeared.

Westwego Planning Gun Buy-Back

A Westwego City Council member is planning to hold a gun buy-back to try to take weapons off the streets of the Jefferson Parish community. Councilman Glenn Green has received approval from the council to use discretionary capital improvement funds to finance the program. No date has been set for the event.
