Median household income has dropped across the metro area, even as poverty rates have risen, according to a report just released by the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center.
In New Orleans (Orleans Parish), the share of the 2011 population that is African American - while lower than in 2000 when it was 66.7 percent - continues to represent the majority of city residents at 59.2 percent.
