New Orleans Police Arrest Woman for Tremé Murder

New Orleans Police have placed a Tremé woman under arrest this evening for the second-degree murder of her estranged boyfriend.

Police say 31-year-old Monica Pollard fatally stabbed her boyfriend at around 1:50 p.m. this afternoon, during an argument inside her house in the 2200 block of Orleans Avenue. The victim made his way outside, collapsed, and was taken to a local hospital where he died.

NOPD to Conduct Uptown DWI Checkpoint

New Orleans Police will conduct a DWI checkpoint from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday night, the department announced today.

The checkpoint will be located in the Uptown area.

Mayor Landrieu Supports Prosecutor's Resignation

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu says the resignation of longtime federal prosecutor Sal Perricone over anonymous and scathing website postings is justified by the facts of the case.

“I think Sal evidently has a very serious problem. And I think that some of the things that he has said and the way that he has done it has posed, you know, a huge problem that we have to work through. The US Attorney and the Justice Department said they’re going to do a full and thorough investigation. I take them at their word that they’re going to do that.”
