Krotz Springs, LA – This weekend, St. Landry Parish officials ordered a mandatory evacuation to protect those living in low lying areas south of I-10. Still, not everyone has decided to leave. Julia Botero reports.

Robert Twilley is vice president of research at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. He says the historical consensus to tame the river just isn't working.
New Orleans, LA – 50 years after they began, the Freedom Rides reached their destination yesterday in New Orleans. In 1961, courageous young women and men, Black and White, boarded buses to ride across the South in defiance of segregation laws. Zoe Sullivan has more.
New Orleans, La. – Governor Jindal says it appears likely that the Morganza Spillway north of Baton Rouge will open, diverting floodwater over small communities in the Atchafalaya River Basin to the Gulf of Mexico.
"It's just like with a hurricane. Act and be prepared as if this storm is coming directly towards us. If it veers off it's certainly better to be over prepared."
New Orleans, La. – Mayor Landrieu is asking that despite a desire to watch the river rush past, people need to stay off the levees while workers monitor the condition of the structures.
"The bottom line is that, as of right now and based on all the information that we have available to us, and the information that we believe will be forthcoming, indicates that that the situation is that the city of New Orleans is safe."
New Orleans, La. – Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is advising residents to be prepared for a flood.
"Unfortunately for us, there's enough water in this system, even if we don't get additional rain, there's enough water in this system, we know that there are areas of Louisiana that are going to be flooded."
