Loyola student's trial delayed in threats case

A trial has been postponed for a Loyola University student charged with sending threatening emails to the campus police department.

The start of the trial for 21-year-old Evelyn A. Hubbard, of New Orleans, has been moved from Monday to Sept. 17. A judge's order says more time for trial preparation was needed.

Hubbard faces one count of threatening interstate communications, a charge punishable by up to five years in prison.

Loyola hosts jazz, art summer camps

Loyola University will host two summer camps devoted to the arts this July. The 18th annual Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp will run its three-week term from July 2 – 20, and the art history-based KidsArt camp will run from July 9 – 20.

Loyola University's Institute for Quality and Equity in Education, in conjunction with the Foundation for Louisiana, will host “Louisiana Incarcerated: An Evening with Cindy Chang,” a panel discussion convened to examine the multifaceted issue of the business of incarceration in Louisiana.

Loyola Alumni Association pays tribute to former voice instructor

The Loyola University Alumni Association will honor former voice and French diction teacher Mary Tortorich at a reunion celebration on Loyola’s main campus.

The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. on June 9 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, with a celebratory Mass featuring several of her former students singing in her honor. At 7 p.m. the celebration will continue in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall, with a gala concert performed by some of her most accomplished singers.
