Occupy NOLA Ousted From Duncan Plaza

The Occupy New Orleans protest no longer occupies Duncan Plaza. A federal judge allowed the city to clear the encampment outside City Hall.

The federal judge refused to issue an order sought by Occupy NOLA. The group has been staying at the park since early October as an offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street movement for economic equality.

Occupy NOLA Wins Restraining Order After Eviction

The Occupy New Orleans protest is being allowed to return to the city park cleared by police Tuesday morning. Eileen Fleming reports the group can stay for at least a week.

About 150 New Orleans police officers evicted the same number of protesters before dawn. The eviction came hours before a hearing was scheduled in federal court. Protesters wanted a temporary restraining order from the eviction that Mayor Mitch Landrieu was threatening to enforce. The judge said he wasn't happy that the city acted before the hearing was held.

Church occupation ends

The Archdiocese of New Orleans has ended the occupation of two churches where parishioners have been battling plans to permanently close the doors. Police made sure the churches were vacated.
