Hornets Begin Homestand With Lackluster 93-72 Loss To Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors simply outplayed the visibly-tired New Orleans Hornets Monday night, winning 93-72. Golden State was lead by 30 points from point guard Stephen Curry, who also racked up six three-pointers.

The Hornets shot 33.7% from the field, including just 3-17 from outside the arc, on a night in which they were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. The Warriors, who have a 38-30 record and are a game-and-a-half ahead of the Houston Rockets for sixth place in the West, shot 50%, including 10 of 19 three-pointers.

Anderson Lifts Hornets Over Trail Blazers, 98-96

Ryan Anderson capped a 20-point performance with a layup as he was fouled with 1.8 seconds left, and the New Orleans Hornets snapped a three-game skid with a 98-96 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night.

Anderson also hit a 3 with 15.6 seconds left that gave the Hornets a 95-93 lead, but Portland rookie Damian Lillard reached the 20-point mark for a sixth straight game by draining a 3 with 11.2 seconds left.

Greivis Vasquez, who also had 20 points, then dribbled out of traffic along the perimeter and found Anderson inside for the winning bucket.

Hornets Roll Over in Fourth Quarter in Loss to Lakers, 108-102

Kobe Bryant scored 47 points and the Los Angeles Lakers scored 33 points in the fourth quarter to defeat the New Orleans Hornets 108-102 Wednesday night at the New Orleans Arena.

The Lakers were down by as many as 25 points during Wednesday’s contest, but capitalized on an inexperienced New Orleans team that failed to score a point in the final 6:47 of the game. The Lakers scored 20 unanswered points on their way to victory.

Notes: Tonight's Hornets/Lakers Matchup

The New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers are set to tip off here at the New Orleans Arena at 7 p.m.

Los Angeles is coming into tonight’s game fresh off a 122-105 loss to the Thunder in Oklahoma City last night. The team flew in to New Orleans late last night, and arrived at the Arena at 5:14 p.m. this afternoon.

Lakers Head Coach Mike D’Antoni said arriving the night before won’t have an effect on his team.
