The NBA is halfway through two riveting conference final playoff series, and there's absolutely no indication how they're going to turn out. Last night in Boston, the aging and creaky Celtics proved that they are really a match for the star-studded Miami Heat. Boston beat Miami 93 to 91 in overtime to tie the Eastern Conference Finals at two games apiece. In the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder also are tied 2-2, and they play tonight in San Antonio.

Host Rachel Martin talks to NPR's Mike Pesca about betting on the Belmont Stakes and boxing.

SIMON: It's the French Open and you know, already, there's almost not an American left in Paris - Andy Roddick, Serena and Venus Williams all out already. And elsewhere, the NBA semifinals are in full swing. But let's hold the hardwood and go first to the clay. Former NBA star Jack Twyman has died at the age of 78. Twyman played for the Rochester and Cincinnati Royals in the 1950s and 60s. But it was his friendship and assistance to an injured teammate that earned him the most recognition.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has been granted a 21-day delay for responding to a defamation lawsuit filed against him by Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma.

The delay is considered routine, and Goodell's lawyers now must respond by July 5 in U.S. District Court in New Orleans.

And I'm Melissa Block. Something special is happening in the NBA playoffs and San Antonio fans hope it continues tonight. The Spurs are shooting for their 21st win in a row. They're playing Oklahoma City in game three of the Western Conference finals. San Antonio is undefeated in the playoffs, 10 and 0, and the talk isn't just about the Spurs winning, but about how they're doing it.

NEW YORK — The New Orleans Hornets have won the NBA's draft lottery and the No. 1 pick overall. After a difficult season in which they traded All-Star Chris Paul, the Hornets have a shot to add another superstar. Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis is widely considered the best player available.
