Ending America's Longest War

This week, the war in Afghanistan turned 12 years old. The war started less than a month after the 9/11 attacks and more than 2,100 U.S. troops have died in the fighting there, including five in the last week.

The plan now is to draw down American forces by the end of 2014. Stephanie Gaskell, senior reporter for Defense One, tells Here & Now’s Robin Young that if there ever was a time to pay attention to the conflict, it’s now.
