The ocean floor has played a big role in long-distance communication going all the way back to the 1800s. That’s when the British laid the first communication cables across the world.
The modern internet still relies on cables at the bottom of the ocean. And there are more on the way.
As Danny Rivero from member station WLRN in Miami reports, researchers are now studying how that sprawling cable network could impact climate change.
