New Orleans' Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Planning Commission is coordinating several events across the city in commemoration of Dr. King's birthday (Tuesday, January 15). Events include a day of service on Saturday (January 19) and a march on Monday (January 21).

Happy Johnson is a children's book author and co-founder of the Team Happy Foundation, dedicated to fostering the next generation of first responders and wetland scientists. He is also the Co-Chair of the MLK Jr. Planning Commission, and he stopped by WWNO to share some thoughts about the iconic spiritual and civil rights leader.

For more information on the activities, visit the city’s website and search for "MLK 2019".
