The Loyola University School of Mass Communication has launched two new minors — social media and environmental communication.
Courses in the social media minor include social media strategies, communications writing, digital communications, photography and videography.
The environmental minor is intended for students studying hard sciences, due to an increasing demand for scientists who can clearly communicate complex issues to the public.
Sonya Duhé is the director of the Mass Communication department. She said in a statement that the new minors were created because college graduates these days are expected to survive in highly competitive job markets that rely more and more on digital storytelling skills.
