Bring Your Ownis a nomadic storytelling series that takes place in living rooms, backyards and unconventional spaces within the community. Each month, eight storytellers have eight minutes to respond to a theme. BYO airs on All Things New Orleans and is a biweekly podcast on WWNO.org.

This story was told on October 1, 2015 at the Saratoga Fruit Tree Orchard in Central City, and later produced by WWNO's Thomas Walsh. The theme of the evening was "Point of No Return," and here, Micah Briggs shares the moment when he finally, metaphorically, got out of the kitchen.

Bring Your Ownis a production of Laine Kaplan-Levenson. The next BYO takes place on November 12, 7:30 p.m. at the Beauregard-Keyes House in the French Quarter. Theme: 'Senseless'.
