Former NFL player and broadcaster Darren Sharper has pleaded not guilty in Louisiana to charges of drugging women he then raped. Sharper is expected to change that plea to guilty in a deal involving three other states.
Darren Sharper was once revered in New Orleans, where he helped the Saints win the Super Bowl in 2010. Sharper also played for the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers before becoming an analyst for the NFL Network.
He’s now in shackles and an orange jail jumpsuit — accused of drugging and sexually assaulting two women in New Orleans. He's pleaded not guilty, but only as a step toward eventually pleading guilty. Sharper is also involved in plea deals on similar charges in California, Nevada and Arizona.
The deal ultimately calls for the former NFL star to serve 10 years in federal prison, with credit for the year he’s spend behind bars after his arrest last year in Los Angeles.
