Four New Orleans universities are included in the new Princeton Review guide to American colleges. Tulane, Loyola, Xavier and the University of New Orleans got high marks.
The annual review by the education services company compiles information submitted by students and administrators.
There are 378 schools in the book that comes out today as a guide for picking a college.
About 126,000 students submitted their opinions on matters ranging from the quality of teachers to how much their classmates party.
Review author Rob Franek says Tulane students love their integration with the city of New Orleans.
“They’re number four on our Happiest Students list. They’re number four on our College City Gets High Marks," Franek said. "The students love that they’re in New Orleans, not only for the great city that it is but it’s a clear extension of their classroom.”
He says students at the University of New Orleans think highly of their educational experience.
“Students are very clear about how much they value their relationships with faculty members," Franek said. "They’re talking about the wonderful diversity of their undergraduate community as well.”
Xavier students complained that the party factor is low at their school, with the science and pre-med students concentrating on studies.
Loyola got high marks for diversity and the students’ quality of life.
The Princeton Review is not affiliated with the Ivy League university. It’s a major publisher of test preparation materials.
