Inside The Arts: Flowers for Halie, KID smART ART JAM, The Henchman

This week on Inside the Arts, New Orleans veteran actress Troi Bechet is the legendary "Queen of Gospel," Mahalia Jackson, in the world premiere of Flowers for Halie. The play presented by Southern Rep Theatre brings to life the journey of the iconic singer, civil rights leader and native daughter. The work is written by and stars Troi Bechet who joins us in studio.

Then, KID smART celebrates two decades of artful learning in New Orleans Public Schools. The non-profit arts education organization kicks off its 20th Anniversary with ART JAM, a family friendly extravaganza featuring art, storytelling, live music and performances. KID smART executive director Elise Gallinot Goldman stops by for a chat.

And, The NOLA Project ends its season with the world premiere of The Henchman: A Shakespeare Story. The comedic outdoor garden adventure is a sequel to A Midsummer Night's Dream, written by ensemble member and Big Easy Entertainment Awards Theater Person of the Year, Michael Aaron Santos. The NOLA Project's artistic director A.J. Allegra, guest director Kristin Shoffner and actor Khiry Armstead are here.

Airs Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m., and Thursdays at 8:45 a.m.
