Inside The Arts: Handel’s Messiah, Mandatory Merriment, A Christmas Carol

Steven Edwards, Music Director- Symphony Chorus of New Orleans

This week on Inside the Arts, Handel's Messiah is back.   The Symphony Chorus of New Orleans teams up with the Chalmette High School Voices Chorale for two performances of the popular baroque oratorio.  We talk with Symphony Chorus music director Steven Edwards and soprano Annelise Cassar.

Then, a new Holiday musical, Mandatory Merriment created by Leslie Castay and Ian Hoch debuts at Southern Rep Theatre. The fortitude of strangers stranded just before the Holidays in a French Quarter bar is tested in this comic romp.

And, veteran actor Bob Edes, Jr. is Scrooge in Le Petit Theatre's production of Charles Dickens' Victorian classic, A Christmas Carol, featuring performers from the theater's newly launched Young Conservatory Program.

Airs Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m., and Thursdays at 8:45 a.m.
