WWNO

This is certainly a busy time of year for WWNO with the gubernatorial election, coastal developments, education news in full swing, and so many cultural events taking place in New Orleans. The award-winning WWNO News Department under the leadership of News Director Eve Troeh continues to grow and produce some great content for WWNO 89.9/KTLN 90.5, and online as well at WWNO.org.

If you haven’t heard our ongoing Nola Life Stories series, produced in collaboration with The Historic New Orleans Collection, check it out. NOLA Life Stories features first-person perspectives of the individuals who have helped shape our community.

Also, be part of the broadcast recording of “Birdfoot Backstage” with the Argus Quartet, live from Basin Street Station on Wednesday, Nov. 11. This is the second chamber music event we’ve held in collaboration with Birdfoot. It’s a unique musical exploration and discussion of  Béla Bartók’s Fourth String Quartet. It’s free, but space is limited – click here to make a reservation.

I will also be presenting an event, as the host of the UNO Homer L. Hitt Presidential Distinguished Lecture series. “The Memory of the Civil War:  What Americans Think About It—and What They Should,” will feature Professor Gaines M. Foster of the LSU History Department. It’s this week – Tuesday, November 3, at 7 p.m,. in the UNO University Center Ballroom.  The event is free and open to the public.

Thanks for listening to and supporting WWNO!

Paul arrived at WWNO as general manager in March 2008. Since his arrival, Paul has strengthened the station’s finances, introduced new national news and information programs, revamped the digital WWNO2 schedule to complement 89.9, and launched digital WWNO3 as an all-jazz channel. He has placed new emphasis on WWNO’s role in the community, devoting resources to local news reporting and cultural features, and encouraging new collaborations among New Orleans’ cultural organizations and the region’s public media.
