The Listening Post Asks: Are You Going To Vote?

The Listening Post wanted to know:

  • Are you going to vote? Why or why not?
  • When was the last time you voted?
  • What issues are most important to you this election?

As usual we sent out a text message with our questions. Here's what we heard back:

“Yes, because it is my civic duty.” "Yes, it is a basic right to vote for representatives in our Democracy!” “My issue is Galvanize the Electorate so that the voice of all of the people is heard. Apathy is the Enemy of our State ” "I early voted, control of the congress is most important to me so we can move the gridlock in some direction just so I don't have the ominous feeling of going nowhere and doing nothing." "Yes!! Voting is so important in all elections. I am voting for Graham Bosworth because I feel criminal court needs a change!” “Yes laundrieu” “I voted already for senate - Mary Landrieu - and judges.” “I early voted and will be happy to avoid the crowds. Most important to me is keeping Mary Landrieu in the Senate, to make sure Louisiana is strongly represented in the halls of Congress. Mary Landrieu's leadership benefits our state and I trust her to keep pushing for democratic values in DC.” “Yes, I always vote. Voting dem for Senate, I'm with Mary. I voted GOP once and it was a mistake.” “I am hopeful for millenials as they come of age and begin running for office. The young conservatives are just as out of touch as the old. ” “I'm w Mary” “Yes I will, none of them are important, because nothing will change” "No I early voted Senate Race is most important to me. Mary Landrieu is best choice for the state of Louisiana let's keep her working for us ” “No. I already voted early. All elections are important. I Senate race is important. If Mary doesn't get reelected we will be in trouble.” “I was late in registering. It's upsetting because it does matter and I know this election is important. I do wish there wasn't so much money and posturing in our election process. Judgeships at the local level in Nola are huge. I'm also really interested in amendment about lower 9th ward land” “Yes. I want my voice heard. I always vote! M. Landrieu is most important to me b/c of her powerful position in the Senate, her seniority.” “Yes, because it's my civic duty and I care about the US!!” “Yes I'll vote. Graham Bosworth for judge and also I strongly support the amendment no 13 because I believe it will give the city the flexibility to get these properties back in commerce. ” “Energy commissioner election wasn't on the ballot where I live unfortunately. Woulda voted for forest wright." “Yes, I am going to vote tomorrow. Mary Landrieu's seniority and Democratic control in the Senate is the most important issue to me.” “Yes I will vote. U.S. Senate race is important as I don't want the Republican Party to achieve a majority there.”
