New Orleans, La. – National Incident Commander Thad Allen wants to see what BP would do if pressure during the bottom kill builds up under the cap containing the spill. He also wants to know if the blow-out preventer should be replaced before the bottom kill begins. Allen says once he gives the o-k, the relief well should finish drilling and intercept the well in about four days. A possible delay could come from a low-pressure system heading toward the Gulf. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center say there's chance it could develop into a tropical storm. Bad weather last week suspended drilling by the relief well. Allen says he still wants the relief well to finish the bottom kill, but how it will be done depends on additional pressure readings he ordered the company to perform. Allen says he expected the results today or tomorrow.
