A supervisor at the New Orleans Police Department will oversee an investigation into the embattled sexual crimes unit.
Nola.com/The Times Picayune reports Commander Paul Noel will supervise a task force that will have at least one sergeant and two detectives.
The sex crimes unit was slammed in a report by the city’s Inspector General. The report found the unit failed to properly investigate hundreds of cases.
Five officers from the unit are now on desk duty.
Commander Noel will keep his position heading the 2nd District Uptown during the task force investigation.
