Today NPR President and CEO Gary E. Knell introduced to our staff and Member Stations two new leaders who will round out the NPR executive ranks and play big roles in making public radio more central in the lives of millions of listeners.

Emma Carrasco will become the first Chief Marketing Officer at NPR, a position Knell created to grow the visibility of NPR and our Member Stations. Carrasco brings 30 years of experience in marketing, branding and communications with major companies, and expertise in cross-cultural marketing. She joins us from Republica, a strategic and creative agency based in Miami, where she served as Executive Vice President.

In addition to a record of success in executive roles at Univision, McDonald's Corporation, and Nortel Networks, Carrasco is passionate about the mission of public broadcasting. She's an avid WLRN-FM listener and sits on the Board of Directors of WPBT-Channel 2, the PBS station of South Florida.

Knell also announced Loren Mayor as his pick for the top strategy job at NPR. Mayor is an experienced public broadcasting leader who joins NPR from PBS, where she is Vice President of Strategy and Ventures. She brings a strong background in strategic planning, analysis, project management, and consensus building to her new role as NPR Senior Vice President of Strategy.

Prior to joining PBS, Mayor worked at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, rising to the position of Vice President of Media Strategies and Technologies; she also consulted for McKinsey & Company, working primarily with clients in the non-profit and media sectors.

We look forward to welcoming these mission-focused and highly skilled professionals to the NPR community in December.
