Typhoon Survivors Desperate For Food In The Philippines

It has been five days since Typhoon Haiyan hit the islands of the Philippines. The survivors spent last night trying to find shelter from the driving rain.

Here & Now’s Robin Young speaks to Kevin Vacca, a missionary with the United Pentecostal Church International of Hazelwood, Missouri.

Vacca has been living in the Philippines for 14 years and he and his wife Lolita have been delivering food to parts of Cebu island.

We also hear a piece from the BBC’s Jonathan Head, who is reporting from one of the hardest-hit cities, Tacloban. Survivors there are waiting for help — especially food.
