It’s the 50th anniversary of an American icon: Ford’s classic Mustang. To celebrate, the company has released the next generation of its timeless pony.
For the first time in 34 years, Ford plans to sell it in Europe, as well as the United States.
Paul Eisenstein, publisher of the car news website The Detroit Bureau, was at the big reveal of the sixth-generation Mustang.
“It’s an ‘old is new’ car,” Eisenstein told Here & Now’s Robin Young. ”It is very classic Mustang. While that’s said, they use technology.”
The new updates, Eisenstien said, include LED lights, independent rear suspension and a new high-tech engine with better fuel economy and performance.
On why the Mustang endures over the decades, Eisenstein said, “It is just an iconic design.”
