India's Top Court Recriminalizes Gay Sex

India’s Supreme Court today reversed a lower court decision and reinstated a more than 100-year-old law that criminalizes homosexuality in the deeply conservative country.

India’s Law Minister says the government would respect the ruling but did not say whether there were plans to amend the law. With general elections next year, the BBC reports, new legislation to make homosexuality legal is doubtful
