New Orleans, La. – The State Board of Regents is holding two key meetings in the capital this week on the proposed merger of the two universities. Today, the board will hear what consultants are recommending and discuss the findings. In New Orleans, the Reverend Jesse Jackson will speak at a noon rally at the SUNO campus on his opposition to the proposed merger. The public will get an opportunity to discuss the matter at the regents' meeting tomorrow in Baton Rouge. Meantime, opponents are asking a court to find the board is not properly diversified and, therefore, unconstitutional.
