The Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board has recommended that New Orleans City Councilman James Gray lose his law license for two years.
The board says he ignored his clients' needs and obstructed an investigation into his alleged wrongdoing.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports the board says Gray exhibited a "pattern of misconduct" and "knowingly violated duties owed to his clients."
It says those failures caused one of his clients' cases to be dismissed ,and another to expire and lose its legal standing.
Gray also kept thousands of dollars paid to him for work he never performed.
In making its recommendation to the Louisiana Supreme Court last week, the board rejected an earlier recommendation by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel that Graybe suspended for three years or permanently disbarred.
