CenturtyLink opened the doors to an innovative future Tuesday. The telecommunications giant officially opened its new Technology Center of Excellence. CenturyLink employees, political officials, and business and community leaders gathered to see the state-of -the-art facility.
CenturyLink CEO Glen Post says the center moves the company forward as services rapidly grow and evolve. "We're moving from local telephone service to a company that provides strategic network services, IT and cloud services around the world," said Post.
The center houses a research and development lab, network operations center, and collaborative meeting and office space. Employees with network, cloud, and information technology skills will work to create products for CenturyLink customers.
The company is pursuing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification of the center. The building features the largest installation of electrochromic glass in the country. The glass has pre-programmed intelligence to tint automatically in response to outside conditions. 80 pecan trees that were removed for site construction were milled locally, yielding lumber to create veneer paneling and flooring used throughout the building.
