Roark Describes Life In Baseball During Wartime

Chennault Aviation and Military Museum hosts a presentation by a World War II-era baseball player in its monthly lecture series.

Dorothy Kovalchick Roark was a professional baseball player in the Womens' League during World War II.  She began playing on all-male baseball teams at the age of 12. 

Roark says she knew by the time she was 7-years-old she knew that playing baseball was her gift. "I could play without a lesson, no fear, no nothing. My father didn't realize it until I was 12-years-old." Roark says.

Roark wrote and published her book "Uncertain Destiny: A True Story". The book details her experiences as a female baseball player during the war era.   

The lecture will be held Tuesday, June 9 at 6 pm at the Chennault Avaiation and Military Museum. The museum hosts public lectures on the second Tuesday of each month.
