‘Levee Acoustics’ is an outdoor, acoustic music video series that highlights local musicians and physical landmarks in New Orleans. Each performance takes place somewhere on or near or the levee along the Mississippi River, honoring the significance of the waterway that snakes its way throughout the city. The musicians choose their own material and location to play along the Mississippi, giving them the chance to honor a site that is meaningful on a personal level, and offer their audience a more intimate look into sources of spatial inspiration.
The first two participating bands to are Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue and Panorama Jazz Band.
Here, Gal Holiday chose to play in Bywater Square, the park nestled between the levee dividing Chartres Street from the river, and The Joint bbq spot.
These two videos feature the Panorama Jazz Band, who chose to perform at A Studio in the Woods, where band leader Ben Schenck married AmaRogan, ASTW's Managing Director. The late, great Bill Deputy engineered these two productions, with assistance from Thomas Walsh.
Levee Acoustics is a Computer Moon Production. This project was shot by videographers Ian Cook, Jules Piecha and Hallie Sheck with post-production by Hard Road Pictures. 'She's a Killer' was sound engineered by Walter Thornhill. Thomas Walsh assisted in the sound engineering for each production. To learn more or get involved, contact Laine Kaplan-Levenson.
