Much of South Louisiana, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans, is under a tornado warning until 10 PM today.
South Louisiana is expected to receive some nasty weather this afternoon with possible wind gusts over 60 MPH, according to meteorologist Dan Holiday and other forecasters.

New Orleans is projected to be spared the worst. Tornadoes are possible from Baton Rouge to the coast.
Holiday said that “supercell” storms will roll into the Baton Rouge area around 3 PM, which will develop over the next few hours into a “pretty solid line of storms.” Rain is expected to clear up by around 11 PM.
The storm rolled into Lake Charles just before 12:30 and a tornado warning was put into effect.
Tornadoes have been spotted in Southwest Louisiana.

A tornado caused damage in a Lake Charles neighborhood shortly after 1 PM.

Just before 1:30 PM, a severe thunderstorm warning was announced for parts of Acadiana until 2 PM.

At 1:48 PM, the National Weather Service in New Orleans issued a tornado warning and radar picked up signs of hail in East and West Feliciana parishes.

The storm is expected to hit Lafayette between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM.

At 2 PM, a 45-minute tornado warning was issued for parts of Livingston and Tangipahoa parishes as the storm pushes east.

A tornado watch is in effect for most of Southeast Louisiana, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans, through 2:30 PM.
Just after 2 PM, Louisiana State University canceled all classes and activities, effective at 3 PM.
LSU will close at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 27, due to the forecast for severe weather and heavy rain this evening. All classes and activities scheduled for 3 p.m. or later are canceled.

The first rains of the stormwall arrived in Baton Rouge just before 4 PM. Storm warnings are in effect in parts of St. Martin, St. Mary and Iberia parishes through 4:30.

As of 4:06 PM, Ascension, Livingston, Iberville and East Baton Rouge Parishes are now under a severe thunderstorm warning through 4:45 PM.

Just after 4:45, the storm moved into Lafourche, St. James, St. John the Baptist, Tangipahoa and Terrebonne Parishes. The worst of the stormwall has travelled east of Baton Rouge and will arrive in New Orleans around 7 PM.

Just before 5 PM, a flood advisory was issued through 8 PM affecting Hammond, Franklinton, Ponchatoula, Independence, Folsom, Springfield, Wilmer, Robert, Natalbany, Mount Herman and Tickfaw.
At 5:18 PM, the storm arrived in St. Tammany and Washington parishes. The severe storm warning in those areas expires at 5:45 PM.
At 5:45 PM, a flash flood warning was enacted in some Northshore communities, where Doppler radar recorded over five inches of rainfall.

Shortly before 6 PM, a severe storm warning was put into effect for Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John The Baptist and Terrebonne parishes, effective until 6:45 PM. Scattered showers are expected to continue in Northeast Louisiana for a few hours after the major storms pass.
