Norman Francis served as Xavier University's president for 47 years. A Xavier alum himself, Francis returned to work at his alma mater in 1957. He's also the first Black graduate of Loyola Law School. In this edition of the Historic New Orleans Collection's oral history series, NOLA Life Stories, Francis recalls his role supporting civil rights and the Freedom Riders in the segregated south.
