The time has finally come. It’s Election Day 2020, and Americans turned out to vote in record number.
But although we’ve reached the big decision day — the official end of the line to cast our ballots — this is far from over. In an election year complicated by a pandemic and fraught with controversy over election security, not to mention an incumbent president who will not commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses, the results might not be clear at the end of the night. Business owners in cities across the country are boarding up storefronts in anticipation of unrest.
Here in Louisiana, dozens of polling places are still without power after Hurricane Zeta. The Secretary of State has been working to get backup power wherever it’s needed.
And so this long election year turns into a long election night, and probably a long election week.
But we can still watch the results roll in here. Below you’ll find updates on the races for president, the U.S. Senate and U.S. House in Louisiana, as well as all seven statewide amendments and sports betting in each parish.
