406 Providers In Louisiana Will Receive Vaccines This Week

COVID-19 vaccine doses are on their way to 406 providers in all 64 of the state’s parishes this week, the Louisiana Department of Health announced Monday.

Of the providers, 261 are pharmacies, up from 250 last week. The other 145 include 55 hospitals, 28 community health centers — 23 of which are federally qualified health centers — seven rural health clinics and 55 other health care sites.

LDH continues to indicate that providers will receive very limited doses of vaccines. The department stressed that providers should not prioritize their own patients and should offer vaccines to anyone who wants to be vaccinated if they fit into the Phase 1A and 1B Tier 1 groups. Providers that fail to do so risk being denied future vaccine doses.

The Phase 1B, Tier 1 group includes:

  • People age 70 and older
  • All health clinic providers and staff, including dental and behavioral health
  • Dialysis providers and patients
  • Home health providers and patients
  • Ambulatory care providers and staff
  • Faculty, staff, students and residents of allied health schools
