People United for Armstrong Park is an organization with the mission of "establishing the park as a nurturing, living environment for the arts."
Toward that end, a few years ago they established an annual jazz concert series, which opens its 2014 season on Thursday.
Mary Steele of People United for Armstrong Park says there is a lot to look forward to this year.
"It's Season Five of Jazz In The Park and it’s a wonderful, intimate concert featuring local artists and artisans," Steele said. "We've got great food and drinks. We've got a second line that kicks it off every Thursday at 4 p.m. Its just a blast!"
The concerts start at 5 p.m.
"We’ve got great acts like James Andrews, Kermit, Bonerama and even Big Freedia will be out there this year," Steele said. "And Glen David Andrews kicks it off at 4 p.m. this Thursday."
