I Remember Paris

None of us have been able to travel much this year, so to satisfy some wanderlust, we're traveling back in time this week on a magical trip Louisiana Eats took to France in the summer of 2015.

We begin the journey in the Loire River Valley at Château du Clos Lucé, with a personal tour of the final residence of Leonardo da Vinci from Count Bernard Saint Bris, whose family has owned the country manor for generations. Then, we join his sister Marie Saint Bris as she prepares le dîner bleu in the dining room of her family's Château Beauchêne.

Next, we're off to the City of Lights for an insider food-centric walking tour, led by Jennifer Greco of Paris By Mouth. The company takes visitors off the beaten path to epicurean gems that tourists rarely get to experience. We drop by a variety of shops in the Marais neighborhood, including a charcuterie (Caractère de Cochon), a bakery (called 134 RdT before changing its name in late 2015 to Tout Autour du Pain), an ancient spice emporium (Thiercelin) and chocolate shop (La Chocolaterie de Jacques Genin).

Finally, we visit a French marché with two American expats, Patricia Wilson and Raenette di Cicco. We sample fruit, vegetables, meats and bread, all the while taking in the sights, sounds and smells of a typical Parisian market day.
