Movie-Theater Shootings Put Presidential Politics On Hold
The shootings of dozens at a Colorado movie theater led the presidential campaigns to tear up their scripts for Friday and beyond. President Obama cut short a campaign trip to Florida as his campaign and that of Republican Mitt Romney halted ads in Colorado and canceled some appearances.

According to the Pew Research Center, half of Asian-Americans are either Hindu, Buddhist, or not affiliated with any religion. Getting High: Physics Of The Fosbury Flop
The world record for high jump — the event in which a person hurdles himself over a horizontal bar — is just over 8 feet. That's like leaping over a stop sign, and clearing it by a foot. Jesus Dapena, of Indiana University, has studied the high jump for 30 years, filming athletes to understand exactly how they produce the force required to clear the bar.

Its Budget Sunk, Undersea Lab May Have To Surface
Florida's Aquarius Reef Base is the only working undersea lab left today. But now that federal funds have dried up, it may be forced to surface. Oceanographer Sylvia Earle joins Science Friday from inside Aquarius, 60 feet underwater, to talk about sponges, corals and other life she's observed on the reef.

Texas Slow To Review Health Insurance Rate Hikes
To make insurance more affordable, the federal health law requires every state to conduct a special review whenever a health insurer wants to raise premiums more than 10 percent. The Texas insurance department hasn't completed a reviews of any of the nine qualifying rate increases. So the companies' rate increases have taken effect.
