Political infighting continues to stall response to New Orleans’ rise in crime

Today on Louisiana Considered, we learn about the political roadblocks to addressing New Orleans’ violent crime problem. We also hear about heightened tensions over redistricting and learn about burn accident awareness and prevention.

Violent crime is on the rise in New Orleans, and authorities are at odds with how to respond. Staff writer for the Times-Picayune | the New Orleans Advocate Ramon Vargas tells us more about the political infighting over crime-fighting strategies.

The redistricting battle at the State House is waging on, and questions loom over how Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards might respond to Republican-proposed maps. The Advocate's columnist Stephanie Grace tells us what might happen next.

February 6-12 is National Burn Awareness week, and last Saturday, Children's Hospital teamed up with the New Orleans Fire Department to host a fire safety event. Louisiana Considered’s Managing Producer Alana Schreiber spoke with burn surgeon Dr. Nicole Kopari to learn more about burn prevention and treatment.
