A classic opera and a parody of drama: Here’s what’s hitting the stages in New Orleans

Today on Louisiana Considered, Puccini’s La bohème hits the stage at the New Orleans Opera. Then, a parody of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie makes its debut.

For the first time since the pandemic shut-down, the New Orleans Opera is presenting its first fully-staged performance. New Orleans Opera general and artistic director Clare Burovac tells us about the upcoming performance of Puccini’s La bohème.

Playwright Tennessee Williams is known for his dramas that depict 20th century families, mainly living in the American South. But this year, the Tennessee Williams Theatre Company of New Orleans is taking a satirical approach to these beloved plays. Augustin Correro, co-founding artistic director, tells us about the upcoming performance of For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls, a parody of Williams’ The Glass Menagerie.
